Mr Barclay presents his Compliments to
Mr Merivale and
begs to acknowledge the Receipt of his note of the
20th Instant,
accompanying a packet addressed to the Officer Administering the
Government of
Vancouver's Island. The vessel by which the packet was to
have been forwarded, had it reached the Hudson's Bay House on time,
sailed from Gravesend early in the morning of the 20
th, and as no
other vessel belonging to the Company will leave England for
Vancouver's Island before the Month of
October,
Mr Barclay begs to be informed
whether
Mr Merivale wishes it to be retained at the Hudson's Bay
House till then, or returned to the Colonial Office.
