Newcastle writes to Douglas with respect to Douglas’s earlier request for copies of Blanshard’s colonial correspondence, which Douglas reported as absent from the records of the Vancouver Island government. Newcastle commits to transmit to Douglas copies of all correspondence between Blanshard and the colonial office.

I have received your Despatch No. 2 of the 2nd March in which you
state that neither Copies nor the originals of the Despatches which your
Predecessor addressed to this Department are to be found amongst the
records of the Vancouvers Island Government.
