Adverting to your despatch, No. 5, of the 11th of April last, in which you report amongst other things that you have provisionally appointed Mr John Work to be a member of the Council of Vancouvers Island,Manuscript image I have now to acquaint you, that I have requested the Lord President of the Council to submit this Gentleman's name to the Queen in Council, in order that, if it should be Her Majesty's pleasure, he may be appointed a Member of the Council of that Island; and Her Majesty having been pleased to approve thereof, I transmit herewith a Warrant under the Royal Sign Manual authorizing you to carry thisappointmentManuscript image appointment into effect.
