Douglas writes to Newcastle to confirm the receipt of the “Book of Colonial Regulations,” which, among other
things, regulates methods for official correspondence. Douglas apologizes for his previous rule-breaching despatches.
The minutes note that “the Schedule” sent with Douglas’s despatch “will do very well.”

I have received your Despatch No 11, of the 17th October with
the Book of Colonial Regulations, which prescribes the mode in which
Officers Administering Colonial Governments, are to conduct their
official correspondence, and referring particularly to the 4th 5th
and 9th rules of Chapter 6, which had been overlooked in my recent
despatches.
I am sorry that your Grace should have had the trouble of calling
my attention to that subject. The error arose entirely from ignorance
of the prescribed forms, andI

will be found correct, though I am not sure that the Docket is made out
in the proper form, particularly in respect to the 'subject of
Despatch.'
