Douglas writes to Newcastle to correct an error in a previous despatch, which was intended to reply to a different correspondence, which Douglas notes.
The minutes note that Douglas's "clerical error" had been noted "at the time."

In referring to my Despatch No 5 of the 27th February last, I observe with regret, an error in the same, which I now beg leave to correct; it being intended as a reply to your Grace's Despatch No 12 of the 22nd October 1853, instead as therein set forth to your Grace's Despatch No 10, of the 15th October, which is noticed in my Despatch No 6 of the 28th February 1853.
