Fishbourne writes to Merivale to acknowledge the receipt of a copied letter that enclosed a "Bill of Exchange" for Victoria's contribution to the “Patriotic Fund."
Jadis’s minute directs that "the Receipt" and pertinent correspondence be sent to Douglas.

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter dated 5th Inst transmitting by direction of Mr Secretary Labouchere, copy of a letter enclosing a Bill of Exchange for (£60.1.6) Sixty Pounds, One shilling and Sixpence, being the sum contributed within the District of Victoria, Vancouvers Island, a receipt for which is enclosed.
