[Private]
22nd May 1856
Dear Sir
I have received the copy of "Wordsworth on the law of Elections," and also the form of ordinance establishing a council, which you were kind enough to send me.
I feel deeply obliged by your considerate kindness in that instance, and for the friendly advice in your letter of the 1st of March, which together with the document and Book, will be of the greatest assistance, in carrying out the directions I have lately received from Mr Labouchere.
I will thank you to continue the favour, on all future occasions, when any thing novel, or extraordinary is to be attempted, or whenever you may consider it expedient.
If I can be of any use in this part of the world, pray command my services.
With best wishes
very truly yours
James Douglas
