I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of
Mr Ball's letter
of the
8th Instant, enclosing, by your directions, copy of a letter
from the Board of Admiralty, stating that the Commander in Chief in the
Pacific had dispatched the
President Frigate to
Vancouver's Island, and
that his attention has already been called to the danger in which the
British Settlements at that Island may be placed; and I beg to convey
the thanks of the Directors of the Hudson's Bay Company for the
communication.
