I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of Mr Ball's letter of the 8th Instant, enclosing, by your directions, copy of a letter from the Board of Admiralty, stating that the Commander in Chief in the Pacific had dispatched the President Frigate to Vancouver's Island, and that his attention has already been called to the danger in which the British Settlements at that Island may be placed; and I beg to convey the thanks of the Directors of the Hudson's Bay Company for the communication.
