Sir,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your Despatch No 1, of the 2nd of January, informing me that the Queen has appointed Captain Prevost of Her Majesty's Ship "Satellite," and Captain Richards of Her Majesty's Ship "Plumper", to be Her Majesty's First and secondCommissionersManuscript image Commissioners for marking out the position of the boundary, between Vancouver's Island, and the Territories of the United States: and that those officers were to proceed forthwith to Vancouver's Island; and further requesting that every facility in my power should be afforded them, towards the execution of their duties.
I have in reply to assure Her Majesty's Government, that I will not fail to carry out their instructions in that behalf, by affording every assistance in my power to Her Majesty's Commissioners.
