Abstract
Despatch to London.

Douglas announces the arrival of Captain Prevost. Prevost suggested that Douglas accompany him to Olympia in search of the American commissioners for the settlement of the “boundary Line
between Vancouver’s Island and Washington Territory.”
Douglas also acknowledges that receipt of Archibald’s Practice of the County Courts and a
“case containing the official Seal for the Supreme Court, and Customs Department of
Vancouver’s Island.”
The minutes suggest that an extract of the despatch be sent to the Foreign Office.

I have the honor to announce to you, the arrival in the Port of Esquimalt, of Her Majesty's Steam Corvette "Satellite," under the
command of Captain Prevost, Her Majesty's Commissioner for the
settlement of part of the boundary Line between Vancouver's Island and
Washington Territory.
The Commissioners forthe
the settlement of that question appointed by
the United States have not arrived here, and Captain Prevost therefore
proposes to visit Olympia the capital of Washington Territory with the
"Satellite," to procure information from the authorities respecting the
movements of the United States Commissioners, and the probable time of
their arrival here. He has expressed a wish that I should accompany him
to Olympia, as he thinks the public service may be thereby promoted, I
should not hesitate in that case to accompany him.
