Sir
I am directed by the Deputy Governor of the Hudson's Bay Company to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 17th Instant, and to inform you that the packet sent therewith to the address of Governor Douglas will be forwarded to Vancouver's Island by the Company's first vessel, to leave early in August, no earlier opportunity offering itself.
