Douglas’s despatch “explaining more fully the grounds on which [
Douglas] considered it necessary to send an armed force against the Cowegin Indians” which
he “perused with satisfaction.”

Douglas Acts of Parliament “and other works (As per list) of a character likely to be useful
to you,” are being forwarded via the Hudson’s Bay Company; the Merchant Shipping Act,
1854; and a list of various acts.
