I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of Mr Merivale's letter of yesterdays date, communicating the intention of Her Majesty's Government in reference to Vancouver's Island Colony; and in accordance with your request a Statement of the Sums for which the Hudson's Bay Company may claim repayment according to the terms of the Grant will be prepared and transmitted as soon as possible.
