I am directed by the Governor of the Hudson's Bay Company to acknowledge the receipt of Mr Merivales' letter of the 2nd Instant, transmitting the copy of a Despatch addressed to the Governor of Vancouver's Island on the 1st Instant, in reference to the expected Migration of the Mormons from Utah to the British Territory on the North West Coast of America, and I am to express the thanks of the Directors of the Company for this communication.
