Sir,
With reference to your Letter of the 18th inst I am directed by the Secretary of State for War to transmit to you, this enclosed copy of a Letter from the Deputy Adjutant General of Royal Engineers respecting the pay and allowances of the Detachment of that Corps under orders to proceed to New Columbia; and to request that Manuscript imageyou will move Sir E B Lytton to furnish General Peel with the necessary information to enable him to answer the enquiries therein contained.
