Storks transmits a letter to the CO from the Deputy Adjutant General of the Royal Engineers
“respecting the pay and allowances” of the detachment sent to British Columbia. He asks that Lytton “furnish” General Peel with the “necessary information” to answer the enquiries of the letter.

With reference to your Letter of the 18th inst I am directed by the Secretary of State for War to transmit to you, this enclosed
copy of a Letter from the Deputy Adjutant General of Royal Engineers respecting the
pay and allowances of the Detachment of that Corps under orders to proceed to New Columbia; and to request that 
you will move Sir E B Lytton to furnish General Peel with the necessary information to enable him to answer the enquiries therein contained.
