The minutes regret that the CO is “not in possession of any sufficiently exact information which they could safely impart” and refer Irving’s letter to the HBC.
Enclosed is a draft from Carnarvon to Berens forwarding a copy of the letter for his attention.

Being desirous of purchasing land in the vicinity of Victoria in Vancouvers Island, I should esteem the favor of some information as to the price per acre—at which it may now be obtained.
