I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your Despatch of
the 11h April last No 49, upon the subject of my
correspondence with the House of Assembly.
2. It is most gratifying to me to observe that you approve of

the course I pursued in directing the attention of the House to
the important step of providing for, and improving the condition
of the Indian races; and you may rest assured I shall not fail
in continuing to regard this interesting and desirable object
with the most careful solicitude.
