Itter to Lytton
6 Hester Terrace
Queen's Road Bermondsey
May 17th 1859 The Right Honble Sir Edward Bulwer Lytton
Sir
Having received a letter from a relative in Vancouvers Island (Mr Monat of the Hudsons Bay Companys service) informing me that there are Vacancies to be filled up, in the Treasury, at that place; I beg to offer myself as a Candidate, for a Clerkship in the same; I am married, and my age is 29 and having a great desire to settle in that Colony, should deem myself extremely fortunate if I were successful in obtaining that, or a similar situation. The Security that might be required, would be furnished by Mr Monat who is one of the oldest residents in the Island. I am well acquainted with all business and Commercial matters and can produce most unexceptional References, and Testimonials as to Respectability, and Integrity &c. Should my application meet with your kind attention, my very best endeavours should be given to the duties of my position.
I remain Sir
Your Obedient Servant
William Itter
