I have received your despatch of the
11th of December No. 49,
reporting the appointment of certain public officers, therein named, to
situations in
Van-Couver's Island.
I have no objection to offer to these nominations, it being
distinctly understood not only that the Salaries
of the officers in
question are defrayed from the resources of
Van-Couver's Island, but
that they in no degree interfere with the appointments I have found it
necessary to make in
British Columbia.
