With reference to Your Despatch No 2 of the 5th of January 1860, calling for the details of Expenditure which has beenManuscript imagebeen incurred upon Barracks and other Services arising out of the occupation of San Juan, and which has been defrayed from Imperial Funds, I have the honor to forward herewith the necessary Returns, with Vouchers, made up to the 30th of September last.
2. I have to offer my apologies for not sooner transmitting these Documents, but there was a delay and difficultyManuscript imagedifficulty in obtaining them in a perfect shape from the Acting Treasurer, Captain Gosset, and they eventually had to be prepared by his Successor, as will be more clearly explained by a perusal of the enclosed correspondence.
