In reply to your letter of the 24th Instant, I am directed by Lord John Russell, to request that you will inform the Duke of Newcastle
that His Lordship is of opinion that the Stores destined for the use
of the Oregon Boundary Commission should be insured.
Mr Merivale
Instruct the Agents General to insure these goods accly & add that
they should recover payment from the War Dept—which Office, I am
informed, is the Cashier of the Foreign Office in this matter.
