With reference to my Despatch of the 19th Ultimo I transmit for your Confidential use copies of a further correspondence between H.M's Government and the Government of the United States on the question now pending with respect to the Island of San Juan together with a copy of a despatch subsequently received from Manuscript imageLord Lyons reporting the substance of a conversation he had had with General Cass on sending him the proposal of H.M's Government for the Settlement of the Oregon Boundary question.
