With reference to your letter of the 25th ult. relating to the manner in which provision is to be made for the extra pay issued by Governor Douglas to the Royal Marines employed at San Juan, I am directed by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury to transmit herewith for the information of the Duke of Newcastle copy of a letter addressed to the War Department requesting that provision should be made for this service in the Army Estimates.
