I have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 27th ultimo, transmitting, by direction of His Grace the Duke of Newcastle, copy of a Despatch from the Governor of Vancouver's Island, reporting that he should take immediate steps for forwarding to England the desired supply of Douglas Fir Seed, and stating the precautions, which would be used in sending it, and I have to request that you will be so good as to convey to His Grace an expression of my thanks for his compliance with my request.
