I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch No. 20 of the 4th of April enclosing an Address of Condolence to the Queen from the Legislative Assembly of Vancouver Island.
I have to request that you will acquaint them that their Address has been duly laid before the Queen and that HerMajestyManuscript image Majesty was pleased to receive it very graciously, and derived much satisfaction from the assurances of sympathy with Her and with the Royal Family expressed by the Legislative Assembly.
