My Lord Duke,
With reference to the 7th paragraph of my Despatch No: 16, of the 21st Instant, informing Your Grace that three men and one woman of the Cowitchan Tribe, viz: Thalaston, Oalitza, Stalchum,andManuscript image and Thask had been tried at a special Assize and found guilty of the murder of William Brady I have now to report to Your Grace that the three men were publicly hanged in front of the Victoria Gaol on Saturday the 23rd Instant at 7 O'clock in the morning.
2. The Jury on this trial recommended Thask, the woman to mercy, and the Chief Justice having concurred in that recommendation I commutedManuscript image the sentence against her to imprisonment for life.
