Sir,
I have the honor to acquaint you for the information of His Grace the Duke of Newcastle that the sum of £26,362.6.6 has been realized by the sale of £24,900 Vancouver Island Debentures, and that as the greater portion of this amount will not be required for some time, I beg to suggest that the Agents General be authorized to invest in one of the large Joint Stock Banks such portion of that amount as may be spared for the purpose.
