Sir,
I am directed by Earl Russell to transmit to you a Document which has been forwarded to His Lordship by the Hanoverian Chargé d'Affaires at this Court with a view to the verification of the signature of the Colonial Secretary of Vancouver's Island, attached thereto.
I am to request that you will move His Grace the Duke of NewcastletoManuscript image to comply with Baron Blome's wishes in this matter.

As a general rule the Secretary of State or Under Secretary only attest the Signatures of Governors or Officers Administering a Govt. In the present case there can I think be no doubt that the signature attached to this original Document is the hand writing of Mr YoungManuscript image the Colonial Secretary of Van Couver Island. If you agree the usual Certificate can be prepared.
