Sir,
With reference to your letter of the 14th Instant I am desired by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury to acquaint you, for the information of the Duke of Newcastle, that Their Lordships would not object to the Passage Allowance of an Officer proceeding from this Country to assume the Government of Vancouver's Island being fixed at £800;
My Lords have, accordingly, directed the Pay Master General to issue £800 to Captain A.E. Kennedy who has been appointed Governor of that Colony.
