Sir,
With reference to your Despatch No. 52 of the 4th of November last enclosing an account of the Receipts and Disbursements of Imperial funds in connection with the Island of San Juan from the 1st of January to the 30th of September 1862; I have been requested by the Lords CommissionersofManuscript image of the Treasury to call your attention to the discrepancy between the balance (viz £610..1..0) at the foot of the account for this expenditure to the 31st December 1861, which was enclosed in your despatch of the 30th of March 1862, and the balance brought forward in the present account viz £611..15..4, and I have to instruct you to calluponManuscript image upon Mr. Watson the Treasurer of Vancouver Island to explain the discrepancy for their Lordships' information.
