Referring to my Despatch No 99 dated 30th November 1864 reporting the suspension of Mr R. Golledge, I have the honor to inform you that I have appointed Colonel Foster, Stipendiary Magistrate at Sooke, to perform the duties of Gold Commissioner in connection with those of the office he now holds,butManuscript image but without any addition of salary.
The duties of both offices can be readily performed by one officer at this season of the year when mining operations are partially suspended.
