Sir,
I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter, 24h
Inst, enclosing 2 Maps of the neighbourhood of Victoria V.Id.
Thanking you I return them, as I already possess copies of both—I
also possess Captain Richards' Nautical Survey.
The Map referred to by me as being in the Office at Victoria is in
every way superior to both of these, containing very much more
information of the nature required. It is of a later date than these
and was carefully surveyed and prepared not by Mr Pemberton but by
Mr Pearse the present Acting Surveyor General.

I take the liberty of venturing to suggest, you would find it a
useful map to possess in the Colonial Office. My impression has
been, that it had been lithographed, but I find I am mistaken.

Write to the Govr, as was proposed by Mr Blackwood, but sending
for his infn copies of this Correspondence.
