[Letter on above:]
Darlington
27 October1866
Sir,
Alluding to the interview which I had the pleasure of having with you on Thursday last I find on looking to my papers that a letter was addressed from the Colonial Secretary's Office on the 6th of August to Mrs Curry & signed by Mr Wm A.G. Young. I addressed a letter to him on behalf of Mrs Curry on the 26th of Septr suggesting that a certificate of relationship and identity from the clergyman of the Parish would under all the circumstances of the case be a sufficient guarantee to the Colonial Office on handing over her sons effects.
To this I have hadManuscript image no reply.
Believe me to be Yours Sincerely
Joseph W. Pease

Mr Fuller has drawn my attention to this case today at the request
of Mr Blackwood. It seems to me that there is much room for doubt whether Mr Pease's letter would reach Mr Young and that it is safer to write some such despatch as the present, in order to continue the corresponsence in regular channels.
