My Lord,
I have the honor to acquaint Your Lordship that Governor Kennedy left this Colony yesterday en route for England; having immediately prior to his departure transferred to me, as the Senior Member of the Executive Council, the administration of the Government, which I have consequently assumed pending the Union of Vancouver's Island withBritishManuscript image British Columbia.
2. I have appointed Mr Edwin James Nesbitt, Chief Clerk in the Colonial Secretary's Office, to act for the time, as Colonial Secretary.
