The Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury have had before Them your letter of the 13th Ulto and its enclosure.
Their Lordships desire me to state, for the information of Mr Secretary Cardwell, that They see no objection to the Trustees of the Vancouver's Island Sinking Fund being authorized to invest, in the securities of the Governments of New South Wales, Ceylon, Mauritius, Victoria, or the Cape of Good Hope, any sums paid to them on account of the Sinking Fund in question, as well as any interest or dividends arising therefrom, in accordance with the 13th clause of the Vancouver's Island RoadandManuscript image and Harbour Loan Act, 1862.
