No. 13
6 April 1866
Sir,
At the instance of Mr. Joseph W. Pease, M.P., for South Durham I have the honor to request that you will furnish me with any information you may be able to obtain as to the effects of a Police Officer named John Curry whoappearsManuscript image appears to have been accidentally killed in the year 1864.
I gather from a letter addressed on the 8th March of that year to the mother of the deceased by the Commissioner of Police at Victoria that her son was believed to have invested some money in mining speculations, and that some portion of his salary was due to him at the time of his death.
I have the honor to be
Sir,
Your most obedient
humble Servant
Edward Cardwell
