I have the honor to acquaint you that the Hudsons Bay Company have
requested me to notify officially to you that the Deed of arrangement,
dated the
3rd February 1862, for settling the claim of the Company to
certain
Lands in
Vancouver Island, was executed by the Emigration
commissioners under proper authority.
I have no difficulty in informing you of what you doubtless have
collected from previous correspondence that the Emigration Commissioners
were authorized by the
Duke of Newcastle, the Secretary of State for the
Colonies, to execute the deed on behalf of the Crown.
