exactExact
According to this private correspondence, exactExact was a US vessel. It sailed to Haida Gwaii in December 1851 in search of gold. It
was presumed shipwrecked by Thomas Boys, from the evidence of pieces of a vessel that
were found on the southwest side of Vancouver Island. It is not clear from the despatches
if it did, in fact, flounder. Douglas, in this correspondence, refers to exactExact’s return to Victoria from Gold Harbour, unsuccessful in its search for gold.
