HMS inconstantInconstant, 1836-1862
HMS inconstantInconstant was a fifth-rate frigate of the Royal Navy, designed by Captain Hayes and launched on June 19th, 1836.1
A transcribed 1849 enclosure in this document notes that the inconstantInconstant's captain at the time, John Shepherd, refused passage to disgruntled HBC employees, who were dissatisfied about the absence of their Employer, and wanted to, in the character of Distressed British subjects, make for San Francisco.
