John Lemon was a Métis man who owned twenty-nine acres of land in
Victoria in
1855.
1 He was registered as an owner in land-district section 18A.
2 James Douglas awarded Lemon twenty additional acres of land along
Portage Inlet in
1859 as recognition for Lemon’s work as a Victoria Voltigeur which were
the first official Police force in the history of BC.
