General William Wylde was the uncle of
E. Vaughan Arbuckle, a member of the Royal Artillery, a member of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath,
and a Knight of King Charles III.
1 Wylde joined the army on
8 September 1803 and continued to rise in the ranks until
24 August 1866 when he became a General. During his military career, Wylde served in Holland, France,
Portugal, and Spain. Wylde passed away at age ninety on
14 April 1877.
