Moody to Merivale (Permanent Under-Secretary)
Topographical Office, War Dept
4 New Street, Spring Gardens
24th Sepr 1858
Sir,
I have the honor to request that a Volunteer Hospital orderly be obtained from the "Medical Staff Corps" to accompany the Detachment of Royal Engineers proceeding to British Columbia. It is hoped that great care will be taken in the selection as only one is requested.
There is no man in the Detachment of RE suitable for the situation. He should receive orders to embark in the "Thames City."
I have the honor to be Sir
Yr most obedient humble Servant
R.C. Moody
