I have to acknowledge the receipt of your [Vancouver Island] despatches of the numbers and dates noted in the margin 1
No. 40, 29 September; No. 42, 30 September; No. 43, 11 October.
and to convey to you my thanks for the satisfactory explanations which they afford of your measures for establishing the Government of BritishColumbiaManuscript image Columbia Columbia, and for maintaining law and order in the Colony.
