Sir,
I am directed by the Governor and Committee of the Hudson's Bay Company to transmit to you for the information of Her Majesty's Secretary of State for the Colonial Department, the accompanying Extract of a letter recently received from Governor Douglas from Vancouver's Island.
In a subsequent letter written by Governor Douglas and dated from Belmont, Esquimalt, the 17th November when, on his way to Fraser's River Mr Douglas mentions that the Mail Steamer from San Francisco had just come in having on board Mr Begbie, the new Manuscript imageJudge of British Columbia who was to accompany him to Fort Langley.
