Referring to my despatch, No 32, of the 19th of October, in which I informed you of the intention of Her Majesty to establish a Bishoprick in British Columbia, I have now to acquaint you that Letters Patent under the Great Seal have been issued erecting the Colonies of British Columbia, andofManuscript image of Vancouvers Island into a Bishops See, to be styled "The Bishoprick of British Columbia," and appointing the Reverend George Hills to be the first Bishop thereof; and I enclose, herewith, for your information, a copy of the said Letters Patent.
