I have had the honor to receive your despatch of the 27th November last No 34 reporting the Proclamation of the Act of Parliament providing for the Government of British Columbia, and the installation of the Public officers. I approve the steps which you have taken for this purpose.
I have communicated to the Hudsons Bay CompanytheManuscript image the fact, which you also announce, of the promulgation of the Revocation, on the 3d of November last, of the License to the Company for exclusive trading with the Indians, in so far as the same applies to the territories comprised in British Columbia.
