Sir,
I am directed by the Secretary of State to inform you that he has requested the Lords of the Treasury to take steps to send you out the amount of silver and copper coin applied for in your despatch No 216 of the 10th of September 1859.
And I am directed to enclose to you for yourManuscript image information and guidance the copy of a letter which has been received from the Treasury commenting on the views of Captain Gossett [Gosset] with regard to the introduction of British Coins to circulate on the West Coast of America concurrently with the dollar and its subdivisions.
You will of course communicate a copy of that letter to Captain Gossett.
