Douglas writes to
Newcastle to report on military spending for the months of
January and
February, “for the sum of Three Thousand Pounds,” and asks
Newcastle to obtain authority from the Treasury to pay said amount when due.
The file includes a draft letter from
Elliot to
Hamilton, Treasury, which forwards a copy of
Douglas's despatch, and recommends that the military expenses noted therein be accepted and
paid.
